The Immigration Station on Ellis Island opened on January 1, 1892. By the time it officially closed in 1954, more than 12 million immigrants has passed through, with as many as 11,747 individuals being processed in one day. Today, Ellis Island Immigration Museum, featured on this tapestry pillow, pays tribute to the hearty souls whose American experience began here.
